Edwardian Ebonized Oak Table / Drop Leaf Table / Sideboard / Extending Table

Attractive, antique drop-leaf table/sideboard.


Turned bobbin legs make up a solid base frame. Pull-out supports from underneath the top support the drop leaf sides to create a larger table top. The table is from the Edwardian period and has an ebonized patina, meaning the wood has a black finish. The process used iron dissolved in vinegar as a darkening agent. The ferric acetate reacts with the tannin in the wood, forming a black substance layering the top of the wood.


Versatile unit that can be used as a sideboard when not in use as a table.


Condition report- In good/used condition, few marks here and there commensurate with age and use.
