Antique 18th Century Oak Mule Chest – Four Panelled Blanket Box with Drawers
A handsome 18th-century provincial joined oak mule chest, having a rectangular hinged top above a four-panelled front, fitted with two short drawers to the lower section, raised on stile feet.
Constructed principally from solid oak, the chest displays a beautiful rich colour, attractive grain and a wonderfully aged patina developed over many years.
The hinged top opens to reveal a spacious interior, ideal for storing blankets, bedding, linens or other household items. The two lower drawers provide additional practical storage and are fitted with decorative brass handles.
Traditional iron strap hinges, a substantial panelled construction and the characterful oak finish all contribute to the appeal of this lovely old piece.
Originally a practical household storage chest, it would now make a wonderful addition to a country house interior, hallway, bedroom or sitting room, working equally well as a blanket box, linen chest, statement storage piece or TV stand.
