A seriously good-looking antique easy armchair, dating to circa 1900 with later alterations, upholstered in rich blue velour.
Designed in the Howard taste, with a generously deep seat, beautifully curved back, sweeping scroll arms (P-arms) and ring-turned wooden front feet. A chair with curves in all the right places!
The chair bears a stamped ‘P’ to the wooden frame. No confirmed maker’s mark has been identified. A wonderfully characterful statement piece, usable in its current condition but with plenty of potential for restoration or reupholstery.
Condition Report The chair is usable as it stands but would benefit from some attention and eventual reupholstery. The legs are missing castors and There are tears to the upholstery at the base of both arms, along with general wear, marks and fading to the blue velvet.
