A great statement piece
Beautiful and old piece. Made in the traditional handmade way. Chinese furniture is renowned for its intricate joinery techniques. Mortise and tenon joints were commonly used, where a projecting piece of wood (tenon) fits into a corresponding hole (mortise) to create a strong and stable connection.
Chinese furniture is known for its elegant and graceful designs. It often features clean lines, balanced proportions, and intricate detailing. The use of natural materials like wood, bamboo, and lacquer adds to its organic and timeless appeal.
Condition report - condition, commensurate with age and use. Various marks, scuffs and scrapes, all add to the charm in my opinion. The legs seem a little twisted at the back but the unit still sits squarely. The carved apron at one end has a little damage but again is sturdy.
