A substantial Edwardian mahogany twin pedestal writing desk, dating to the early 20th century and of particularly impressive proportions.
Measuring 183cm wide, the desk features a large rouge red rexine inset writing surface surrounded by a mahogany border. Below is a traditional arrangement of drawers across the frieze and twin pedestals, providing generous storage and working space.
The drawer fronts are finished with brass swan-neck handles, with attractive reeded detailing to the uprights and moulded plinth bases below.
The mahogany has developed a rich, dark colour with plenty of character from age and use. At over six feet wide, this is a proper statement desk rather than a small occasional writing table and would look superb in a home office, study, library, large living space or commercial interior.
