A charming 19th-century Continental pine chest of drawers, with a pale, mellow finish and plenty of country house character.
The overhanging plank top sits above two short drawers and two full-width drawers, each with decorative recessed detailing and small square metal knobs. The larger drawers feature ornate metal keyhole escutcheons, while moulded detailing divides the upper section and frames the base. Turned bun feet to the front complete the piece.
Its compact proportions make it a lovely choice for a bedroom, hallway or cottage interior, providing useful storage without dominating the room.
Condition: Age-related wear throughout, including surface marks, knocks, small losses to the edges and mouldings, and some separation and splits in the timber, including the top. The finish has variations in colour and traces of a pale finish within the grain and recesses, giving it a timeworn appearance.
