A genuine Victorian pine chest of drawers sourced from Hatfield House, presented in original country house condition.
Constructed in solid pine with two short over three long drawers, fitted with white ceramic knobs and original escutcheons. The surface has developed a rich, worn patina from decades of use, giving it that proper lived-in look that’s hard to replicate.
The top is covered in historic graffiti and markings, including the name “Kenneth Summers” and dated inscriptions, adding real character and a tangible link to its past.
The locks are stamped with a Crown VR cypher (Victoria Regina), indicating Victorian government or estate-issued fittings, consistent with its use within a large country house setting.
A practical, usable size - ideal for bedroom storage, hallway use, or as a statement piece in a period interior.
Condition
Good solid antique condition.
General wear throughout including surface marks, scratches, and historic repairs, particularly along the top edge. The top shows heavy wear and period graffiti which has been left untouched as part of the piece’s history.
