A wonderfully characterful antique taxidermy red fox, preserved within its original-style glazed display case and complete with the taxidermist’s labels for T. Lee, Taxidermist, Barton Square, Ely, Cambs.
The fox is presented in a naturalistic setting with dried grasses, mossy groundwork and foliage, enclosed within a black-painted wooden case with glazed front and sides.
A proper old piece of British taxidermy with plenty of age and atmosphere. It would make a fantastic addition to a country house interior, study, library, pub, shop display or collection of natural history and curiosities.
Importantly, the case retains T. Lee taxidermist labels, including the paper label inside the case and maker’s label to the rear.
Condition Report
Good antique condition overall with age-related wear throughout. The fox remains well presented, although there is some expected age and wear to the specimen and naturalistic groundwork. The case and glass show general marks and wear consistent with age.
There is a small crack to the corner of one glazed side panel, as photographed. Some loose hair/debris can be seen within the case.
Please study all photographs carefully as these form an important part of the condition report.
