A handsome Victorian double wardrobe displaying particularly attractive flame-mahogany figuring.
The moulded and stepped cornice sits above two tall panelled doors, each framed with decorative shaped mouldings and centred by beautifully figured mahogany panels.
The doors open to reveal a generous full-width hanging space fitted with a brass hanging rail and numerous brass clothes hooks. Beneath is a large full-width drawer fitted with turned wooden handles, providing useful additional storage.
Raised on a substantial plinth base, this is a wonderfully practical antique wardrobe with relatively compact proportions and plenty of traditional character.
Condition Report
Good, solid antique condition with general knocks, marks, fading and colour variation consistent with age and use. There is wear around the doors, mouldings and plinth, together with some historic repairs and minor losses. The drawer base shows separation in the planks.
The interior has been adapted for modern hanging use. The interior floor shows age-related movement and gaps, while the drawer has wear and historic repairs around the joints.
No key is present, so the wardrobe cannot currently be locked. Please study all photographs carefully. The wardrobe comes apart in three pieces for ease of delivery.
