A handsome mid-Victorian mahogany chest of drawers, dating to around the mid-19th century.
A particularly attractive example with a rounded rectangular top and softly rounded front corners, giving it a much more elegant profile than the usual square Victorian chest. Arranged as two short drawers over three long graduated drawers, each retaining turned wooden knob handles and individual keyholes.
The mahogany has developed a rich, warm colour with plenty of variation and character. The chest stands on a moulded plinth base with small turned feet.
A very usable size at just under a metre wide, offering excellent storage without being an enormous Victorian chest. It would work particularly well in a bedroom, dressing room, hallway or living space.
Condition Report
Good solid antique condition with considerable age-related wear and character. The top has historic splits, marks, staining, particularly around the edges and corners, all clearly photographed. There are further knocks, marks, scratches and variations in colour throughout commensurate with its age and use. The drawer interiors show expected historic wear and marking.
