A lovely antique pine chest of drawers dating from the late Victorian to early Edwardian period, circa 1880–1910.
Made from solid pine throughout, the chest has been stripped back to reveal the natural pale pine with plenty of original character, grain, knots and age-related markings.
The practical arrangement comprises two smaller drawers over two full-width drawers, providing a good amount of bedroom or general household storage without being an overly large piece. The drawers are traditionally constructed with dovetailed joints and retain attractive decorative metal drop handles and keyholes.
The simple plinth base and unfussy proportions give it a really versatile look – equally at home in a traditional cottage, farmhouse interior or mixed with more contemporary furniture.
Condition Report
Good antique condition with plenty of genuine age and character. There are knocks, marks, scratches, old stains, colour variation and general wear throughout, all consistent with its age and previous use. The top particularly shows the natural knots, marks and variations associated with old pine. One handle on the upper drawers is a slightly different design to the others, likely an historic replacement. Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition report.
