A handsome late Victorian walnut twin pedestal writing desk, dating to the late 19th century.
The desk has a traditional rectangular top inset with a green leather-effect writing surface, above an arrangement of nine drawers. A central long drawer is flanked by two smaller drawers, with three further drawers to each pedestal.
Finished with attractive decorative brass drop handles and raised on plinth bases with castors, it has a lovely warm walnut colour and a good compact proportion. At 121cm wide, it’s large enough to work comfortably at without being the great hulking Victorian desk that takes over the room.
A very usable antique piece that would work equally well as a home office desk, writing desk or study desk, particularly in a traditional or eclectic interior.
Condition Report
Good antique condition overall with age-related wear, marks and knocks consistent with its age and use. There is wear to the timber, particularly around the edges of the top. The green inset writing surface shows light use.
Some of the drawers have later patterned liners, as photographed. Castors are present.
Please note: The desk dismantles into three separate sections for ease of transport and delivery.
