A handsome Edwardian walnut chest of drawers dating from the early 20th century, with lovely warm colour and particularly attractive figuring across the drawer fronts and top.
The chest is fitted with three graduated long drawers, each with decorative pierced brass backplates and drop handles. Moulded detailing between the drawers adds a little more interest, while the simple square carcass and plinth base keep it nicely proportioned.
At just over 91cm wide, it’s a very useful size -substantial enough for a bedroom while compact enough for an alcove, landing or smaller room.
The walnut has developed a wonderfully warm, mellow appearance with plenty of evidence of its age and use.
Condition Report
Good, usable antique condition with considerable age-related character. There are marks, knocks and areas of wear throughout. The drawer interiors also show staining, marks and wear from previous use. Structurally a charming and very usable antique chest.
