A charming 18th century carved oak coffer chest with later alterations, featuring a triple-panelled hinged lid above a beautifully carved three-panel front, decorated with floral and foliate motifs.
The chest features decorative carved detailing to the front and sides, traditional stile feet and substantial iron hinge fittings. The oak has developed a wonderfully rich, timeworn patina, with plenty of character and charm.
The spacious interior offers practical storage for blankets, bedding, linens or other household items, making it an ideal addition to a country house, cottage, hallway or bedroom.
A lovely example of early oak furniture, combining traditional craftsmanship with the warmth and character that only comes with age.
Condition Report
Good antique condition, with expected age-related wear, historic marks, knocks, minor losses and evidence of later repairs or alterations.
The solid oak panels have experienced some natural movement and slight warping over time, as is common with furniture of this age. The hinged lid still closes as it should.
There are variations in colour and patina across the top, together with areas of historic wear, all adding to its rustic charm and character.
