A superb late Victorian carved oak court cupboard in the 17th-century style, packed with deep floral relief carving, bold mouldings and that proper country-house presence. A real statement piece with masses of storage and character.
The upper cupboards have fixed shelving, and the lower section offers generous enclosed space for larger items. This would look absolutely incredible in a kitchen stacked with copper pots, stoneware, jars, cookbooks and crockery - or used as a dramatic pantry-style cabinet. The long drawers include their original green-felt divided compartment, ideal for linens or tableware.
Condition
Solid and sturdy. Expected age-related wear throughout: surface scratches, colour variation to the top, historic knocks and general handling marks.
There is a natural plank separation on the top, typical of older oak and purely cosmetic.
There are also small losses and wear to the moulded trim in places, exactly as photographed — nothing structural and still presents beautifully. Top section comes off for ease of delivery.
