A fantastic large vintage galvanised metal water trough, perfect for use as a substantial garden planter, raised bed, or statement piece in a courtyard or terrace garden.
Originally used on farms for livestock water, these old galvanised troughs have become very popular for garden planting thanks to their industrial look and durability. The long proportions make it ideal for planting lavender, grasses, herbs, olive trees, or seasonal bedding.
The trough has a lovely aged galvanised finish with natural weathering and patina that only comes with years of use. A central strengthening bar runs across the top and there is an original outlet hole on one end which could easily act as a drainage point if used for planting.
A brilliant large scale garden feature that would look superb planted up outside a barn conversion, farmhouse, or modern courtyard garden.
Estimated age: mid-20th century agricultural piece.
Condition
Good solid vintage condition with expected signs of age and use. The galvanised surface shows areas of wear, light rust spotting, and weathered patina. Structurally strong and perfectly usable. The internal support bar is intact and the original outlet hole is present at one end.
