A wonderfully shaped late Victorian deep-seated easy armchair, circa 1890, in the style of Howard & Sons.
A particularly comfortable country-house chair with a low, generously proportioned seat, sweeping back and beautifully curved rolled arms. The chair is raised on squat turned wooden forelegs with plain splayed rear legs.
Currently upholstered in a faded blush pink and ivory floral silk damask, which has a lovely timeworn appearance and suits the chair remarkably well. The generous proportions and sculptural profile are very much in the tradition of the celebrated late-19th-century easy chairs produced by Howard & Sons.
A superb decorative chair for an English country-house interior, bedroom, dressing room, library or sitting room, and equally a very good candidate for professional reupholstery.

A genuine antique chair showing age and use throughout.
The existing silk damask upholstery is faded, worn and marked in places, with areas of thinning, rubbing and deterioration to the fabric. There is wear around the arms, seat and edges, together with general discolouration consistent with age.
The chair remains an attractive usable decorative piece, although the upholstery should be regarded as tired and ultimately suitable for replacement/restoration.
