Mid Century Olympic Gymnasium Trestle Trees Wooden Gym Bars Vaulting Horse

A fantastic original 1960s Olympic Gymnasium Co. Ltd of London wooden Trestle-Tree, a wonderful piece of old-school British gymnasium equipment that now makes a superb and unusual interiors piece.

Constructed from solid timber with rounded wooden rungs to both sides, metal feet and substantial metal hinge plates. The original maker’s plates are embossed “Olympic Gymnasium Co. Ltd London – Trestle-Tree – Patent No. 911322”.

Originally designed for school and gymnasium use, today it lends itself brilliantly to repurposing. Its large double-sided form makes it ideal as a shop or retail display, clothes rack, towel rail, blanket ladder, throw display or statement decorative piece. It would look particularly good in a clothing shop, homewares store, café, studio, bathroom or large character interior.

A great piece of British institutional design with loads of character and a lovely warm aged finish to the timber.

Condition Report

Good vintage condition with expected age-related wear from its original working life. There are various scratches, knocks, scuffs, marks and areas of wear to the timber, all adding to its authentic character. The metal fittings and feet also display age-related wear.
