Pair Vintage Armchairs French Louis XV Style Rococo Carved Wood Upholstered

A fabulous and very decorative pair of vintage French Louis XV-style armchairs.

Generously proportioned, with beautifully shaped and carved frames, pierced cresting, scrolling arms and cabriole legs. The pale blue upholstery features a subtle diamond pattern, deep buttoned backs, studded edging and loose feather-filled seat cushions.

These are substantial, comfortable statement chairs that would look wonderful in a large bedroom, drawing room, boutique hotel or either side of a fireplace.

The frames appear to be stained and polished beech. They are vintage reproductions in the French Rococo/Louis XV taste rather than period French antiques, most likely dating from the early 20th century.

Condition Report

Both chairs are solid, sturdy and comfortable.

The wooden frames have general age-related wear, including scratches, rubbing, small knocks and areas of finish loss. Dust is present within some of the deeper carved sections.

The upholstery remains generally good with no obvious major tears; however, it is a little grubby throughout with scattered marks and some more noticeable particularly to the arms.

The loose seat cushions are feather-filled and naturally require occasional plumping. The underside upholstery is finished with traditional hessian.
