A beautiful set of four antique mahogany dining chairs dating from the mid-Victorian period, circa 1860–1870.
Each chair features an elegant open balloon back with a wonderfully shaped scalloped top, warm mahogany frames and finely turned front legs, with swept rear legs. The removable drop-in seat pads are currently upholstered in a blue patterned fabric and could easily be recovered to suit a new interior.
A lovely decorative set with particularly attractive silhouettes - ideal around an antique dining table but equally good mixed with a more contemporary table for a less formal look.
Condition Report
Good antique condition with plenty of age and character. There are knocks, rubbing and variations to the polish consistent with approximately 150+ years of use. Historic joints/repairs are visible to areas of the backs and there is wear around the seat rails. The existing blue upholstery shows marks and general wear.
