A handsome Victorian mahogany extending dining table, dating to approximately c.1860–1880, with a wonderfully rich colour and plenty of genuine character.
The substantial mahogany top has softly rounded corners and a moulded edge, standing on four beautifully detailed turned and fluted legs, each terminating in its original-style brass castor with white porcelain wheel.
The table incorporates a traditional wind-out extending mechanism, operated using the winding handle, allowing the table to extend from a compact near-square shape to a generous rectangular dining table. Two removable extension leaves increases the length from 122cm to 176.5cm.
A particularly useful size for modern homes, offering a relatively compact footprint when closed while providing plenty of additional dining space when required. Comfortably suitable as a six-seater dining table, with the possibility of accommodating additional guests when needed.
The mahogany has developed a beautiful warm colour and patina over many years, with attractive figuring visible across the top.

Good, solid antique condition with wear consistent with its age and use. The tabletop displays various historic, marks, knocks, cup/glass rings and areas of wear to the polish, all of which contribute to its authentic aged appearance and character.
