Vintage British Thornton Architects Draughtsman Drawing Table Desk Industrial

A superb original vintage British Thornton draughtsman’s table, manufactured by the renowned British maker of professional drawing, scientific and educational equipment.

A wonderfully functional piece of vintage industrial furniture, constructed with a solid timber frame featuring attractive dovetailed corner joints and fitted with a grey work surface. The integral drawing board can be raised and adjusted to a choice of working angles or folded completely flat when not required.

The drawing board retains its original parallel straightedge, clearly marked BRITISH THORNTON, while the frame is stamped:

British Thornton supplied specialist drawing and technical equipment to drawing offices, schools, colleges and other professional institutions. The British Thornton name was adopted in 1967, making this a great example of later 20th-century British technical furniture.

Today it would make a fantastic working architect’s or artist’s desk, studio table or an unusual piece of industrial furniture for a home office, shop, café or commercial interior.

Condition Report

Good vintage condition with age-related wear throughout, including marks, scratches, scuffs and areas of wear to the drawing surfaces and timber frame, all consistent with its original working life.
