A beautiful original Ercol Model 317 Grandfather Easy Chair, a classic piece of British mid-century furniture with Ercol’s unmistakable Windsor styling.

The Model 317 appears in the Ercol archives, including the 1965 catalogue, where it is listed as the Grandfather Easy Chair.

Made from solid elm and beech, this example retains its lovely warm blonde finish. The solid elm seat has particularly attractive grain and is complemented by the tall steam-bent hoop back, slender spindle construction, sweeping arms, splayed legs and stretcher base.

A fantastic example of vintage Ercol furniture, combining traditional Windsor craftsmanship with the clean lines associated with mid-century and retro British design.

A wonderful statement armchair for a living room, reading corner, fireside or bedroom and equally at home in a traditional or mid-century interior.

Condition Report

Good vintage condition with age-related wear throughout, including surface marks, small knocks and areas of wear to the finish, particularly around the arms and legs.
