A fantastic original vintage Lodge wooden gymnasium vaulting box, complete with its original maker’s label for Lodge (Equipment) Limited, West Molesey, Surrey.
A substantial piece of traditional British school gym equipment, constructed in five graduated, removable wooden sections, each individually numbered 1–5 and with inset carrying handles. The upper section retains its padded upholstered top.
The timber has developed a superb warm colour and heavily worn patina from decades of genuine use, with all the knocks, scratches and marks you would hope to see on a piece of original institutional gym equipment.
Each section can be removed individually, allowing the overall height to be altered. This also makes it considerably easier to transport.
Beyond being a great collectible piece of vintage sporting equipment, these old vaulting boxes make brilliant statement furniture. Ideal as an unusual bench or seating piece, shop or retail display, café/restaurant furniture, changing-room seating, prop or simply as a cracking decorative piece in an industrial interior.
Condition Report Good solid vintage condition with extensive age and use-related wear throughout, including scratches, knocks, marks, rubbing and losses to the finish. The upholstered top also shows wear and old markings but is surprisingly clean.
